Tell it once, Foster mom. For old times' sake...

Ilsa came into IBR sad and thought her problems didn't amount to a hill of beans. Was she wrong! She was slated for euthanasia, but four days before that was to happen, IBR came into her shelter, out of all the shelters in all the towns in all the world and saved her.

It was a difficult road, we both promised no more questions. Ilsa was afraid and felt she had to come out of her shell on her own. But we told Ilsa, "We'll never leave you."

But Ilsa felt she had a furever home to go to. And thought where she was going, we couldn't follow.

But as time went by Ilsa came out of her little shell. And she had dreams of finding her "Rick Blaine", and all the time he (Socrates) was right under her little nose.

Little did she know all that time she was in her furever home. We have decided to keep Miss Ilsa in our home, but hope you will continue to look at other IBR dogs. The more dogs that get adopted out of shelters and from rescues clears the way for more to come in and get a second chance at life as Ilsa did. http://search.petfinder.com/shelterSearch/shelterSearch.cgi?animal=&breed=&age=&size=&specialNeeds=&declawedPets=&children=&status=&id=&internal=&contact=&name=&shelterid=IL166&sort=&preview=1

But you must remember this... A kiss is just a kiss, but love from a rescue dog is a great way to make the time go by. Love Miss Ilsa and her furever family.

As Time Goes By...

As time goes by my foster mom learns more and more about me, after all she and I promised...No questions.

I had a huge break through this week! I walked up to my foster dad, sat in front of him and let him pet me! I guess he wasn't such a bad guy after all. Now I go by him a few times a day so he can pet me. I really like when he scratches behind my ears.

I'm eating very well. I finish my food twice a day. It's very good food. My foster mom goes between Natural Balance and Eagle Pack. She adds things to my food I really like, such as, sardines, plain yogurt, and pumpkin. I'm putting weight on, but keeping my slim figure.

Yesterday Peach, Socrates, and Fala were doing something strange in the backyard. Each one had a front paw up and their tails up and they were looking at something. I don't really know what they saw. I just wanted to play, but as much as I jumped on Socrates, he would not move. I tried with Fala, she wouldn't move either! My foster mom laughed and said, "Miss Ilsa, you are defiantly NOT a bird dog! I don't thing feathers are in your future."

I think that's a good thing, I like my fur, I don't want feathers!

I do enjoy being outside in this nice weather, but not for to long. I have long fur and its a little thick so I get a bit warm if I'm outside for to long. But I do love to lay inside the house by a window.

I like hard toys I can chew on. But no rawhide's, my foster mom doesn't want me to choke.

Thank you for visiting with me again, Miss Ilsa

A Kibble For Your Thoughts...

My foster mom and I had a conversation today, something like this:

Miss Ilsa: A few kibbles for your thoughts.

Amy : For humans they'd bring only a penny, and, huh, I guess that's about all they're worth. Ilsa: Well, I'm willing to be overcharged. Tell me.

Amy: Well, I was wondering...

Ilsa : As was I

Amy: Oh?

Ilsa: When will I be lucky to find my furever family?

Amy: Oh, I bet it will be soon Miss Ilsa.

I have been having a lot of fun in foster care. On Easter I saw a orange egg that said Ilsa. I never had an Easter Egg before!!!

I'm doing very well with the 3 young dogs here, but I have way to much energy for an older dog. So a house with one other dog, maybe two would be a good fit. I I've started to come around a little with my foster dad. Also I'm a very good watch dog. I'm getting better about going outside, sometimes I still need some encouragement. No accidents! But I like being by my foster mom and sometimes would rather stay by her then go out, but usually once I see Socrates or Fala out there, then I'll go.

Oh, I hear my song! Time for me to go... Da..dee..da..dee..da..dum, da..dee..da..dee..da..dum... You must remember this / A kiss is still a kiss / A sigh is just a sigh / The fundamental things apply / As time goes by. / And when two lovers woo, / They still say, "I love you" / On that you can rely / No matter what the future brings...Love, Miss Ilsa

Rick??

I heard something out the window today, I thought maybe it was my Rick Blaine! Even if I can't have Rick I can love another. I do love Socrates, but in my heart I know the perfect home is out there for me. I am looking for love, and I have a lot of love to give. I am going to sleep now. Funny, I have this song in my head, maybe you know it. My foster mom said, Oh, I can't remember it, Miss Ilsa. I'm a little rusty on it. But I'll hum it for you. Da-dy-da-dy-da-dum, da-dy-da-dee-da-dum...You must remember this / A kiss is still a kiss / A sigh is just a sigh / The fundamental things apply / As time goes by. / And when two lovers woo, / They still say, "I love you" / On that you can rely...Miss Ilsa is sleeping now, dreaming of her Rick. If you have another dog that would make Miss Ilsa very happy. We love her and want to find the best home for her, Amy (Ilsa's foster mom)

Here's Looking At You Kids.

This is me with Natalie. I LOVE LOVE LOVE kids! I follow her everywhere. She is very nice to me. I would do great in a house with kids and other dogs. I am having so much fun with the other dogs here. I am really coming out of my shell too. Another IBR volunteer came over this weekend and I let her pet me. I was very friendly with her. She said I was a nice girl and full of energy! I am full of energy so a house with younger dogs would probably work better for me. There is a dalmatian here that is almost 14 yrs. old. I am learning to leave her alone, but I would really like a friend to play with. Socrates ,the weim in this picture, does play with me a lot! We run all over the backyard. A neighbor asked: What is your breed? My foster mom replied: Ilsa's a mix. That makes Ilsa a citizen of the canine world...I hear Socrates asking me to Play Again, Ilsa.

Uh Oh!!!

Someone was digging in the backyard today! My foster mom, "rounded up the usual suspects." But it wasn't me. My paws were clean! And that's a good thing, I had a bath today. I had to take a quick trip to the dr. today. I was a good girl while I was there, after my bath and a blood draw, I didn't care for that part, I was given so really good food! I ate the entire bowl full! At the dr they thought maybe I am a beagle, boxer, corgi, and brittney mix. I ate even more when I got home. My foster mom was very happy, she was getting nervous, I haven't been very hungry lately. Also she has been very patient with me. I'm very unsure of strangers when they try to approach me. But I have bonded with my foster mom and the non-fur kids that live here. My foster dad doesn't seem like a bad guy, I'm starting to go by him a little more. I really like Socrates. He is a Weim that lives her. Whenever I'm unsure or afraid I go by him or jump on top of his crate. That is my safe place. I really enjoy playing with the other dogs here, we are having a blast. I figured out Peaches (adopted IBR) is playing and not fighting with me, she is a lot of fun! So that is the complete dossier on me: Ilsa Star Lund , Beagle X , age: 10 month-1yr.. It was a busy day, so I'm going to check into La Belle Aurore, OK, well, just my crate. Until next time, Ilsa

I Made It!

Come sit down. Have an ice water with us. There is more to my story. I thought my problems didn't amount to a hill of bean. I was wrong! They did. I am now an IBR rescue dog! The shelter I came from had me listed as a Pointer/Brittney X. But they may have been off a little. Everyone is still trying to figure out what I am. My foster mom (and a few other IBR member's) think maybe Brittney/Beagle? I'm very sweet. I like kids. I like other dogs too. I like to play with them in the yard and in the house. But when it gets to be to much I find somewhere to lay down. I like to lay under the computer desk by my foster moms feet. I almost forgot, I came on a transport with Strength, Hope, and Courage. Check out their blog: http://ibrstrength.blogspot.com/ I was sad when they left me, but I know we'll always have Chillicothe. Until we meet again, Ilsa
